A Generac generator is only useful when it starts. When yours doesn't — during a PSPS event, on a 108°F summer day, or when your medical equipment depends on it — you need a factory-authorized technician on-site fast, with the right parts on the truck. Peak Power Systems provides 24/7 emergency generator repair across the Sacramento Foothills for existing maintenance customers, and same-day/next-day emergency response for the broader community whenever we have capacity.
We're a factory-authorized Generac PowerPro dealer. That means our technicians are trained directly by Generac, we're authorized to perform warranty repairs, we have direct parts distribution access, and we can register your unit for warranty if the original installer failed to do so. We also service any brand of residential standby generator our team is qualified to work on.
Problems We Solve
The specific power reliability challenges Sacramento Foothills homeowners face — and exactly how we address them.
Generator won't start
Most common causes: dead starter battery, oil sensor trigger, fuel pressure fault. All typically fixable first-visit from truck stock.
Failed self-test
Weekly self-test failures show up in Mobile Link. We diagnose the fault code and repair before the next real outage.
Starts but won't transfer load
Usually a transfer switch fault, control board issue, or grounding problem. Requires diagnostic — we bring the reader.
Runs but shuts down after minutes
Common causes: overheating, low oil pressure, fuel supply issue, or exhaust obstruction. We diagnose the root cause on-site.
Fuel or oil leaks
Regulator drift, gasket failure, or a cracked line. Safety-critical — call immediately if you smell fuel around the enclosure.
Rodent damage
Foothill properties see wire chewing and nest-building inside enclosures. Common enough that we carry replacement wiring harnesses.
Benefits
24/7 emergency dispatch
For existing maintenance customers, we dispatch technicians nights, weekends, and holidays.
Factory-trained technicians
Every tech is Generac PowerPro certified. We work on Guardian, Protector, EcoGen, and legacy models.
Parts on the truck
Common failure parts (batteries, oil sensors, control boards, regulators, fuel filters) stock every service vehicle.
Warranty-authorized
As a factory-authorized dealer, we perform Generac warranty repairs directly — no shipping to Wisconsin.
Loaner generators available
During major PSPS events, we can deploy portable loaner units so your home stays powered while parts arrive.
Written diagnostic report
Every service call includes a written report with fault codes, root cause, repair performed, and any recommended follow-up.
Our Process
Call (916) 555-0173
Real person answers 24/7 for existing maintenance customers. Text photos of any error codes.
Remote Diagnostic
We check Mobile Link data (when available), read the recent fault history, and estimate the fix.
On-Site Repair
Tech arrives with common Generac parts. Most repairs (dead battery, oil sensor, regulator) fix first-visit.
Test & Report
Full self-test after repair, written report of root cause and parts installed, warranty registration if applicable.

Most common emergency failures we see
Roughly 60% of no-start emergency calls are dead starter batteries — usually because the battery is 3+ years old or has been sitting undercharged. 15% are oil sensor triggers (low oil, sometimes false-triggered by a bad sensor). 10% are fuel pressure faults from regulator drift. 5% are control board issues. 5% are transfer switch problems. The remaining 5% are miscellaneous — rodent damage, cracked fuel lines, exhaust obstructions, or the very rare engine failure.
Why battery age matters more than you think
Standby generator starter batteries typically last 2-3 years in California heat. When they die, the generator physically can't start — no fault code, no Mobile Link alert, just silence when PG&E cuts power. That's why our annual maintenance visits include a load test on the battery, not just a voltage read. A battery reading 12.6V at rest can still fail under starting load if it's aged out.
What to do while you wait
If your generator won't start during an active outage: verify the fuel supply is on (natural gas valve open, propane tank valve open, gauge above 10%), check that the transfer switch is in AUTO position, note any lights or codes on the control panel, and call us immediately. Don't attempt to hand-start the engine or bypass the transfer switch — you can void the warranty or create a backfeed hazard.
